Last fall I was introduced to the What's in the Bible? DVDs. I watched some video clips and later that same day I purchased a bundle for my boys.
They chose to use their daily media time to view these over and over and over again. Then they begged me to watch Why Do We Call it Christmas?
So I popped some popcorn and snuggled in to experience the DVD with my kiddos. I laughed a lot. I learned a lot.
Wait a minute. {insert screeching tires sound}
I've gone to church for 30+ years. Couple that with almost 20 years of Christian education.
And I learned a TON from a children's video? Yes. I did.
Fast forward six months. I was given the opportunity to review What's in the Bible Volume 8 Words to Make Us Wise [Psalms, Proverbs, & the Writings] (before it even debuted!), I was all jumping-out-of-my-seat yelling, "Pick me! Pick me!" I planned on purchasing this DVD anyway, so I was no-way turning down the opportunity to review.
What's in Volume 8?
Words to Make Us Wise [Psalms, Proverbs, & the Writings] covers five books of the Bible: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon.
In Volume 8 the cast of zany, witty, and unique characters will teach (you and) your children important truths from the writings, and throw in a lot of laughs throughout two 25-minute episodes.
You'll get answers to important questions.
- Why do we need to know if a passage of scripture is a poem?
- Who wrote so many Psalms?
- Is the song "The Wheels on the Bus" in the Bible?
- What's the opposite of being wise?
- Is Ecclesiastes about the same thing as Proverbs?
- What are we to do in this crazy, mixed-up world?
- Vanity? What's that?
- What's the meaning of life?
- Is there a difference between peasant and pheasant?
And, you will, indeed, gain all kinds of knowledge.
- Proverbs are principles not promises. They will teach you how to make good choices.
- Banana does not rhyme with van.
- Psalms is the largest book in the Bible.
- Proverbs are not action words that have gone professional.
- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
- Tummy troubles might be fixed by eating two animal crackers and drinking apple juice.
- If we're only happy when things go well, we'll never be happy for long.
- There is not one Psalm about pizza. Not even one.
