You know, sometimes this blog gig is really impersonal. And too much about me.
I've told you before that I am just a normal girl . . . because I am. Sure, I can crank out some cute printables here and there, but I'm not wonder woman. And my superpower is not cleaning the house or patience (especially when I'm cranking out the aforementioned printables. Ahem.).
I was just out on my (little-bit-scary) back porch, putting some clothes in the dryer and pondering such things as, "Do other women have a system for their laundry?" As in a real bona fide system? As in one that actually works?
I start thinking some more. And I decide I want to ask my readers some questions. I'd love to hear from you; please feel free to answer {one or more of these questions} in a comment!
1. Laundry Systems. Do they exist? Do you have one? How's that workin' out for ya?
2. Do you go to co-op? Have you taught a class? What?
3. Cursive Writing? My son is 10, and we haven't crossed that bridge yet. Yay or nay?
4. Read any good books lately {other than children's literature}? What?
5. Cheap, easy, and healthy meals — Got 'em? Please share 'em!
6. My youngest son loves to destroy things. What do I do with him? How can I channel this into something constructive?
7. Homeschooling favorites? Tell me all about them. Please.
8. Pinterest? What's the best Pinterest project you've completed?
9. Going on vacation this summer? Where? Any free family fun ideas?
10. How did you find my blog? An inquiring mind wants to know.

1. Laundry Systems. Do they exist? Do you have one? How’s that workin’ out for ya? Ours is easy. A stack of laundry baskets in the hall between bedrooms. Everyone’s clothes go in. When it’s full (ahem, daily) the basket is brought downstairs, leaving the other empty ones in place for more clothes. Wash, dry, and divide by bedroom into piles. Children in each bedroom take their pile and put all laundry away. I have 3 kids in each bedroom plus the baby in our room (I put his clothes away).
2. Do you go to co-op? Have you taught a class? What? No. We did start a homeschool book club several years ago that is still going strong. Love it.
3. Cursive Writing? My son is 10, and we haven’t crossed that bridge yet. Yay or nay? Yay, but only learning it enough to be able to read it. No real ‘must have pretty handwriting in cursive or else’ mentality.
4. Read any good books lately {other than children’s literature}? What? I’ve been reaading Biggest Loser books and cookbooks and was excited to find the Desserts cookbook focuses on using healthy, natural ingredients instead of crazy fake substitutes!
5. Cheap, easy, and healthy meals ā Got ’em? Please share ’em! Chilli, Salad with chicken, soup.
6. My youngest son loves to destroy things. What do I do with him? How can I channel this into something constructive? Hehehe. Good luck! I have 5 boys and it’s in the genes for some of them. Maybe try Lego/Duplo, or Kid Knex? Invest in a hammer and nails and a 2/4 and let him have at it.
7. Homeschooling favorites? Tell me all about them. Please. Books! Audio books. Math U See. Your Business Math series from Simply Charlotte Mason.
8. Pinterest? What’s the best Pinterest project you’ve completed? No Pinning at my house.
9. Going on vacation this summer? Where? Any free family fun ideas? The arboretum for walks/hikes. Also hoping to hit the Olentangey Indian Caverns this year.
10. How did you find my blog? An inquiring mind wants to know. Homeschool Share years ago, I’ve followed along since you started I think.

1. Laundry Systems. Do they exist? Do you have one? How’s that workin’ out for ya?
Yes, my kids make laundry. I do laundry. Well, until this summer. Now each kid has a day and they are learning to separate clothes, amt of detergent to use (not 1/2 the bottle), and then the washing machine setting to wash the clothes on. This week we’re learning the dryer too.
2. Do you go to co-op? Have you taught a class? What? I was involved in Classical Conversations for 2 years and taught the 5 year olds. Last year we took a break to train at LearningRx because my oldest son had ADHD and I wanted something besides medicine. LearningRx offered answers and solutions….not just a label. After starting my oldest, two others have been through the course. I’m next.
3. Cursive Writing? My son is 10, and we haven’t crossed that bridge yet. Yay or nay?
I say yay. Schools say nay. But how is one to read cursive or write a thank you note in their own handwriting if they can not write cursive? I’m old school, I guess.
4. Read any good books lately {other than children’s literature}? What?
I’m struggling for books right now. I need help too.
5. Cheap, easy, and healthy meals ā Got ’em? Please share ’em!
Read at Frugal Mama that recipes take more ingredients and time. We’re doing more raw or grilled organic beef, chicken or hotdogs. We do a lot of homemade pizza. Simple and fast. Also pasta with organic sauce….add whatever you like. Lots of carrots, apples, cantaloupe, watermelon, salad, corn. Tacos are fast.
6. My youngest son loves to destroy things. What do I do with him? How can I channel this into something constructive? Do you have a place outside that can be “his” to destroy things? I’ve learned with my three boys that destroying is something inbred in some of them. My oldest destroys stuff and my second born writes on everything. It’s almost like a dog peeing on stuff. Drives me crazy. I’ve given him paper and pen but noticed permanent marker on his brand new bunk bed last night. UGH!!!!!!!
7. Homeschooling favorites? Tell me all about them. Please.
Favorites have to be Vocabulary Cartoons, Teaching Textbooks, Abeka History.
8. Pinterest? What’s the best Pinterest project you’ve completed?
Hee, Hee….looking at other people’s stuff and wishing I was that mom.
9. Going on vacation this summer? Where? Any free family fun ideas?
Beach and then back home to SC. Camping is always a hit.

Great twist on this topic! I like to read the unusual posts. I found your blog through the “10 days of…” series. I’ve really enjoyed reading, even though I don’t comment much. I will be looking forward to reading people’s answers to your questions. I’ll only give a response to #6, and you can decide if you want to go for it, or wait until he gets older. My son destroys things because he wants to know how they work. My father-in-law will give him old appliances (you can also get them from Good Will) and a screw driver. They take everything apart piece by piece just to see what is inside. (He also gives him little sectioned boxes to put all the screws, wires and parts in.) Of course, it is nice that this usually occurs at granpa’s house and not mine…. haha. It has been a great way to help channel that destructive energy to a little bit of boy-style learning!

1. Laundry Systems. Not so much a system per say, but my hard/fast rule is that as soon as the load is done it goes in the dryer. If I have another to wash that goes in right after the last one. Same for the dryer, unload and fold immediately. Doesn’t mean it gets put away right away, but for sure by the end of the day. This way the stuff has less of a chance to wrinkle and then that is less for me to iron. The folded laundry goes into piles for each kid to put away and mine and hubby’s in a basket to go to our room.
2. Do you go to co-op? No
3. Cursive Writing? WE do SWR (spell to Write and Read) and we START with cursive. They have picked up print from that too. But for school purposes cursive.
4. Read any good books lately {other than children’s literature}? What? The Sons of Encouragement by Francine Rivers-loved it! The Vow- a very quick read, but very good too. Found the Duggars (19 kids and counting, etc) at a thrift store and am reading that now. It’s actually pretty good!
5. Cheap, easy, and healthy meals ā salads, salads, and more salads- cheap cause you buy what’s on sale veggie-wise. Easy, chop for the week. Healthy, well , it is veggies. =0)
BBQ quesadillas- brush two tortillas with with BBQ sauce. On one, added diced cooked chx, and dice onions (or whatever else, this is our preference and how my friend told me). Put a little bit of cheese (ched, etc.) Put the other BBQ tortilla on top. GRILL a few minutes on each side. Soooo yummy hubby actually asked for this for his father’s day dinner!
6. My youngest son loves to destroy things. What do I do with him? How can I channel this into something constructive? hhhhmmmm, I like the other answers to this question. This for me, brings up other questions like: who’s stuff is he breaking? Why is he breaking it? Just to be destructive or trying to figure it out? , etc.
7. Homeschooling favorites? HSS! MFW, SWR, MUS, and Confessions of a Homeschooler
8. Pinterest? What’s the best Pinterest project you’ve completed? ahhh, my “try and true” recipe board and a couple of crafts (ie “conversation hearts” decoration: get wooden block hearts, paint them, put kids names on them, and hang them with ribbon- lovelovelove that one!
9. Going on vacation this summer? Where? Any free family fun ideas? Just got back. Went to CO. Our place was free (a friend), but for us there we brought our bikes and that was free, as well as walks, parks, etc.
10. How did you find my blog? An inquiring mind wants to know. HSS. =0)
