Games are one of my favorite gifts (to give or get)! Good games promote thinking and generate relationships between the players, and I love both of those things! The games on our shelves are a secret weapon; I can easily redeem a bumpy-grumpy school day with some fun {and educational} games.
So . . . we play games here. Lots. It's one thing that keeps me sane and also one thing both of my kids enjoy. Here are ten (or maybe eleven!) of our favorites.
Elijah's favorite board game ~ LEGO Creationary
A game my boys play together ~Guess Who?
Simon loves Block Head! Don't let the blocks come crashing down or you lose!
Elijah's favorite {I like it, too} card game ~ Sleeping Queens
It's like Tic-Tac-Toe meets Checkers! It's Gobblet! Fun for our entire family (and yes, I have been beaten by the 5-year-old).
Jason's favorite family game ~ Blokus
Who needs spelling when you have Bananagrams? (Just kidding . . . maybe.)
Simon's FAVORITE game in this world and wide is Labyrinth. Find the magical treasures as you travel around a MOVING board game. Requires planning ahead and lots of spacial thinking.
Mix, Match, Score, and Win! It's Qwirkle.
This fun game, Enchanted Forest, gives the old memory a work-out. Whew!
One of Simon's favorites. Pengoloo is a matching game with a twist (you can steal from your opponent!). Too fun.
What are your favorites? I'd love to know!

Thanks for the recommendations! We have lots of those but I have been thinking about Lego Creationary and Enchanted Forest and I think my youngest might like Block Head. I think I’ll put at least 2 of those in my cart to purchase. Thanks!

I haven’t played with Elijah. I will admit that I’m a bit of a shark when it comes to Settlers. Must win. Every time. Did you know I was evil like that? I’m not sure I want my kids to see that side of me. LOL
