This book is SO MUCH FUN! Even if you don’t use Five in a Row, you must buy this book to read to your children, grandchildren, or even to yourself. We loved it!
We started out our week with learning some cake cookie decorating techniques at co-op. We also made mini-marshmallow catapults! (I hope to get those instructions up at HSS soon.)
On Tuesday night I made a castle cake (for a surprise for Elijah).
When he woke up and found it, he hollared up the stairway– "Mom! A lovely, light, lucsious, delectable cake!"
And here is our lapbook:
Front Cover
Left Side: Old English font and a reader (from a Scholastic book)
Bottom Center: Should I Eat This Setence Strips Book
The right flap opens so Elijah could write yes or no (or not too much).
.
The left flap opens to reveal the nutrition information (I taught Elijah the basics of reading labels).
Right flap ~ Vocabulary Words with Pocket
Allteration book opened
Rising Action book opened to the last page (Elijah wrote "Leaven makes things rise"); he learned about three types of leaven: yeast, baking powder, and baking soda
Collage of Switzerland (opened)
Cast at the Castle (opened)
Elijah told me the names of the characters to write in the flaps.
