This is a super fun sensory activity that will cultivate curiosity about nature. Your preschooler will create a book with special objects he finds in nature. When he's finished, he will have a book he can "read!"
Supplies:
6 Ziploc freezer bags (quart-sized)
Stapler
My Prickly Tickly Book Pages printed (on different colors of paper, if desired)
To assemble the book, put one printed page inside each Ziploc bag. Stack them all together with the cover on top and staple on the left side. Two or three staples is plenty. Ta-da! Your book is assembled.
Now for the real fun. Talk a walk outside and let your child find things to put in his book.
Here is what Simon found:
A soft leaf (the back of it was really soft).
A smooth stone. Every preschooler wants a book with a rock in it, right?
Fuzzy seeds/weeds.
A rough piece of bark plucked straight from the tree.
Some prickly pine needles.
I don't think you can go wrong with this one! Just try it!
P.S. A great go-along book for this activity is I Am an Artist by Pat Lowery Collins.
