A few weeks ago one of Simon's co-op classes read Boxes for Katje and packed boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Each child came to co-op with a toy for a child and ten $1 bills. There were ten stations for them to purchase items for their boxes (combs, toothbrushes, pencils, crayons, pencil sharpeners, wash cloths, bars of soap, notepads, candy, etc.).
They went shopping!
And filled some boxes!
When the shopping and filling was done, the kids drew pictures and placed them in the boxes as well.
The children understood that these gifts were for other children somewhere in the world. Children who don't have much.
They all seemed happy to do this! We used the money collected to pay for the items in the boxes and to pay for the shipping of the boxes.
Please consider putting together a few boxes. National Collection Week is November 14th-18th. You can find out more on the Samaritan's Purse website.

Ami, so awesome that Simon’s co-op class got to pack shoe boxes. I watched the video you shared, just moves my heart, that is why we pack shoe boxes every year. Thought you would enjoy this video volunteers put together in NYC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WAGsXp7YNs
