I'm excited about these Friday Fun School posts. It forces me to be intentional. I don't love being forced to be intentional, but I love being intentional–especially once I'm on the other end of intentional.
We don't ditch all of our regular school stuff on a fun day. Instead, we subtract some of the daily grind and add in some spice and jazz.
Here's what we did!
1. Made straw planes and turned it into something educational.
Elijah cut two 10-inch strips and two 5-inch strips from cardstock. Just enough for two planes.
Taping it together.
Being cute.
I made some printables last night, so I could sneak in some math (includes measurement, addition, subtraction, finding averages). You can click on the image below if you'd like to grab 'em.
Simon measuring the first flight.
Blast off!
Elijah doing the math.
2. Tea time!
We haven't done this in awhile. It' was nice to have a treat and read poetry together. Elijah and I took turns reading.
3. LEGO Quest
Have you seen LEGO Quest? It's something we'll be adding in frequently on our fun days. This week's quest: build an object out of LEGO that is a useful household object.
While Elijah was working on the LEGO challenge, Simon created swimming pools for his mini-figures. Yes, swimming pools out of LEGO bricks. Leaky-leaking swimmy-swimming pools all over my house. No photos of that. Sorry.
Elijah constructed a comb.
Does it work? Of course it does! I even tried it.
Um, I wish he would've made something to clean the bathroom mirror. That would've been handy.
4. The Cricket in Times Square audio book
I don't have any pictures of this. It was happening while I was making the treats for tea-time. The boys listened to an hour of the book while making and enjoying a humongo fort. Love this.
We enjoyed our fun school Friday!

Okay, my fun Fridays look lame now! haha! I had not seen the LEGO Quest site and I am excited about it–I am thinking we are going to do a LEGO box this summer! : )

Ami, YOU are so inspirational! I think you just revamped my Fridays! Thank you so much for all the fun things to try out. I like how relaxed it sounds while actually getting ‘work’ done! You are amazing.

I hope you do add some fun in on Fridays, Kay! It’s been really good for us around here. š It also gives me a chance to use the fun ideas I see on Pinterest! š
