Elijah needed some new reading material for his Kindle, so I went shopping yesterday! I found oodles of FREE classic eBooks for kids! I'll post my finds (old and new) ~ maybe this will help you find some things as well. Please preview and research each title to make sure it's suitable for your family.
If you don't know how to upload books from Gutenberg, you can read about it here.
And, if you don't have a Kindle (or Ereader), you may seriously want to consider buying one. Ours has paid for itself many times over with the free books we've found.

Wow, this is a huge list, thanks. We bought a Kindle for our daughter as her book collection was getting too big and we had to find a way to not accumulating.
Kindle books can be expensive after a while. We get these cheap offers for like 99 pence, and then the sequels get more expensive. So what we started doing is choosing non-urgent delivery for our Amazon deliveries and getting Kindle book coupons as we are Prime members. Still it's slow and our daughter is a fast reader.
