“Math, math, math–I want more math!” Last spring Simon demanded more math. After pausing to ponder if he was really my child, I realized he was serious.
As a mom who embraces interest-led (or delight directed) learning, I was determined to meet my son’s need. I started doing some research. My best friend (and homeschool mom of five) has raved countless times about her family’s CTC Math membership. I signed up for a free trial, and Simon was hooked!

CTC Math is Fantastic for Interest Led Learners
-
The student gets to choose from hundreds of topics.
Our CTC Math membership let Simon choose from a wide variety of lessons. He could choose mental strategies, multiplication, measurement, or something else he was interested in. Gobs of learning opportunities awaited him every time he logged on.
-
If a student loves a certain topic or is excelling in a certain area, the sky is the limit!
Simon could access any lesson from the kindergarten level all the way through to high school geometry–and beyond!
All the lessons are open. This gives an interest-led student so much freedom. If a child excels in one area, there are no road blocks stopping him from continually learning and growing in that area.
Reasons CTC Math is a Super Supplement
-
No lesson preparation required.
You can choose to assign your student lessons if you want, but I didn’t do anything. Simon took the wheel on this one. It was amazing to know my student was working independently without any effort on my part!
-
No grading for mom!
Weekly reports from CTC Math came straight to my inbox. I didn’t have to grade anything. I spent a couple minutes each week glancing through the Weekly Activity Log. The log indicates which lessons Simon has viewed, which assignments he has completed, and what his scores were on his assignments. I had the option to set the passing percentage at what I wanted it to be; the program requires the student to re-do a lesson until the average score meets the requirement.
All this information is provided without any planning or grading.

It’s easy to explore math topics that aren’t covered in our mastery based math curriculum.
If you are using a mastery based program, it's nice to break away once in awhile and let your student try a taste of something different. This is more than possible with CTC Math.
CTC Is the Best Homechool Math Supplement
Simon enjoyed this program because he was not waiting on me to teach him the next lesson; he was not waiting to finish his multiplication book so he could move up to the next book about division; he was able to explore the world of math on his terms, in his way. exploring the world of math on his terms, in his way.
CTC Math opened the world of math for my son—in a way that I couldn't.
