When my youngest son was beginning to read, I created several sets of BOB Book Printables for him.
These printables go with the BOB Books, a set of books made for beginning readers.
We love BOB Books! They are just right for little readers–the books were made for small hands and with a few words on each page the text doesn’t overwhelm. The simple stories builds confidence for beginners. Both of my boys began their reading adventures with BOB Books.
I’ve created some printable activities specifically for the BOB Books.
I tried to vary the activities for your student to keep things fresh and fun. You can use as many or as few activities as you like to compliment the books.
What Are BOB Books?
Some of you might be wondering what BOB Books are. Are they books about short haircuts, or a boy named Bob, or what?
BOB Books were created by Bobby Lynn Maslen while she was teaching 3-5 year-olds at a private school.
She wanted something small for her students’ hands, and she wanted something that would be easy for them to read.
So, she made them.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
For over 40 years, BOB Books have continued to be used by educators to help boost student confidence and get them on the road to reading.
How to Use BOB Books
BOB Books are easy to use. You simply start with Set 1. Teach your students a few alphabet sounds for letters A, M, S, and T.
Once students know those sounds, they will be able to read the entire book. Truly! It’s that easy.
BOB Book Printables
I decided to share them here as a way to help other homeschool moms and teachers to reinforce the concepts taught through the BOB Books.
